| What Are Ponchos?
Ponchos were beloved in the 1970's, and then faded as citizen didn't have the time knit or crochet that much anymore. But over the last couple of years the 70's style ponchos have made a broad comeback along with many new designs. |

Ponchos are in the middle of a blanket and a sweater. The basic layout of the poncho is like a round blanket with a hole in the town for your head which can be beyond doubt put on and taken off when the climatic characteristic changes. Some hang plain, while others have a drawstring with pom-poms or other designs at the end of the string, a row of buttons, or just one button at the top. There are also patterns with a collar like a shirt, turtlenecks, and even with a hood attached to the back. The patterns vary from granny squares or other motives put together, strip patterns, gorgeous lace, to solid stitch patterns. They come in round, diamond, zig-zag, and even quadrilateral shapes, from long, or medium distance to just a short caplet. These ponchos come in so many shapes and designs that they have become a beloved amongst the young and old, rich and poor, supreme and non-famous. Many stars are wearing them today in all designs and colors. Possibly they have helped to boost the popularity of this extraordinary new fashion trend. Ponchos are a beloved way to hide the parts of the body which we'd rather not reveal. They can be worn on or off the shoulders, or on one shoulder. They can be worn in the winter as a coat, or in the summer as an extra layer over a t-shirt, tank-top, or bikini. They can be worn over a t-shirt and jeans for a casual look, or with a skirt or evening dress for a more sophisticate look. Ponchos are being commercially produced and sold in fashion stores. There are also a lot of poncho patterns ready in books or the internet for crocheting, knitting, or sewing. Anyone can make these ponchos, whether you're a beginner or on a more developed skill level. There are patterns for everyone's skill level, and designs for everyone's liking. If you have a stash of odds and ends, granny-style ponchos are an excellent way to get started and at the same time use the stash of yarn. What Are Ponchos? |
